Book of Copies is a project devised by the magazine San Rocco. Contributors were asked to produce black-and-white A4 photocopies about certain types of buildings, creating “a database comprised of images that can be copied in order to produce architecture.” Book of Copies was exhibited at the Venice Biennale 2012 and the Architectural Association in London. Barbas Lopes Arquitectos took part in this second installment, with a collection of images about theatres. It began with the amphitheater of Epidaurus in Greece, including other examples such as La Fenice in Venice or the Großes Schauslpielhaus by Hans Poelzig. It also featured figures such as Benito Mussolini or Bobby Fischer, linked to drama and history. In the words of William Shakespeare, “all the world is a stage.”
