Mould is a Milan-based publication set to “create a subjective, unconventional and multifaceted witness of contemporary culture.” Markus Miessen was the guest editor of the first issue, responding to the notion of “cultures of assembly.” Barbas Lopes Arquitectos provided a contribution for this inaugural installment, or rather “a manifesto for public space.” Public space has been at the forefront of recent conflicts, staging its own raison d'être. From the standpoint of architecture, only form can retain the status of publicness and resist the ubiquity of market-driven forces. The manifesto was laid out as a visual stream of precedents merged into a single panorama. The result of this montage is neither a “no-stop city” nor a “città analoga,” rather a hyperstation for future endeavors.
